Military, medical, and industrial equipment today are often dependent on computer software to function properly. There have been cases of a bug causing missile launchers to shoot down friendly aircraft and radiation therapy machines giving patients more than a lethal dose of radiation. Proper automated software testing tools was not present in many of these cases. This should show how important software testing is these days, especially since computers control so much in our lives.
