PC crashes every time on start up

I have no choice, but the PC crashes every time on start up. I have just changed from my dialup internet connection to Broadband connection. After some modem problems, I am back online. I have Windows XP and use IE Browser. I am always refreshing pages and checking connections with the windows link to keep the page from dropping out. I have scanned the PC with Hijack this, and it finds Virtumonde, but can't delete it. What should I do?
