How Can I Prepare For A Career As An Actuary?

I hear it has been listed one as one of the best jobs by a couple different books and magazines, and I really like to work with numbers and probability. How can I prepare for a career as an actuary? What do I need to do while I am in school to get good actuarial entry level jobs after graduation? I am planning to major in actuarial science, and I want to try to find an internship for at least one summer, is there anything else I could do that would be helpful?
