Trading on Instinct

It is important to thoroughly investigate the facts in commodity trading before purchasing or selling a contract and not rely on preference alone. I do think that experience and gut instinct can play a role but I think in the long run that facts will ultimately win out. I spend a great deal of time assessing commodities before commodity trading, looking for trends and measuring the volume of my portfolio at risk. Do I think all personal preferences have been put aside? More then likely not so, but if I remind myself to look at the facts first I can eliminate the temptation to rely solely on instinct and make better contract decisions.
